The internet has revolutionized the way people live and how many businesses operate. The size and scale of the net is still growing rapidly everyday. Gambling is one industry which has hugely benefited from the web revolution.

Traditional gambling required consumers to visit their local bookies, fun casino or bingo hall. These were often only located in major towns and cities in the UK.

The first Gambling site setup to change this. At last people could wager on the weekend football without leaving the home. The introduction of online betting resulted in several traditional bookies setting up their own online websites. These offered users the chance to bet on sporting events such as horse racing, football, golf and greyhound racing.

The market’s traditional barriers were broken down within a couple of months as thousands who previously couldn’t access gambling could now open online accounts. Specialist online betting sites were also opened and began attracting thousands of visitors.

Next it was the turn of online casino, poker and bingo rooms. Casino’s offered users online roulette, video poker, blackjack and slot machines and Bingo Rooms were an instant hit with online female users.

Casino Gambling Could Be Coming To Long Island, New York

December 16, 2008
Perhaps it is Indian tribes that are reaping the biggest benefits of all of the states that are moving towards legalized online casino gambling. Many tribes have applied for federal recognition in order to begin the process of building casinos in different areas of the country.

One of the areas that could have a tribal casino in its future is Long Island, New York. There currently are no casinos in Suffolk County, but that could change if a newly formed task force finds that a casino could help the economy.

One person that is not convinced free casino gambling in Suffolk is the answer is County Executive Steve Levy, although he is not opposed to the task force. "I’ve never been a fan of bringing a gambling operation into Suffolk. As with Atlantic City and Connecticut, you don’t tend to see the filtering down effect in the economy that is always touted. The tribes get rich, but you don’t see the surrounding economy improve," he said.

Others do not agree with his stance, and it will be up to the task force to prove Levy wrong in his assertion that the economy in the area would not improve with the addition of a casino.

Do not expect the casino game to be popping up in Long Island anytime soon. The task force could take up to a year and a half to do their research. In that time, officials will keep a close eye on the economy. A still staggering economy could lead to a change in position regarding casino expansion in Suffolk.

Slotland Launches MegaSpin

December 9, 2008
Online slots and poker site Slotland.com has announced the addition of the new instant-play MegaSpin slot games title to its already impressive stable of 15 unique games.

The object of the single-payline slot machine with two sets of three-reels is much like any other fruit title, to get three characters in a row. Doing this, players move up to compete on the upper reels where they can multiply their winnings. Hitting three different fruit symbols sees players rewarded with three free spins while Wild Stars serve as the ‘wild’ and also substitute for other characters on the payline.

‘We don’t have super heroes or comic book characters,” said Ondrej Tuma from Slotland.com.

“Our players like classic slot machines and MegaSpin follows in that tradition.”

Like all of the unique UK casino slot machines and video poker titles at Slotland.com, MegaSpin is tied to a progressive jackpot that recently hit for $134,000. This progressive bonus pool continually increases as players bet and play until it is won and is quickly approaching $100,000. Players can take part without downloading any software and getting three Wild Stars on each of the two reels while betting the maximum stake will win the progressive jackpot.

Established in 1998, Slotland.com now features thirteen unique slot machines alongside three video poker games. In addition, four of its most popular slot titles along with two video poker games are available for play on mobile telephones, tied to the same progressive jackpot pool as the online gambling versions.
